Do not buy this product, the cables inside break and the company does not stock parts. Junk.

My cable broke after about a year and a half. It still works with the key only. Very disappointment.

mine lasted about three years and the cable broke loved it till then and now the cable has been breaking every year would like to find a good durable cable that will not break I am going to try a braided fishing line this time. Bill you must have got the good cable in yours, you can reset the code with new batteries installed below the battery case in the middle it has a reset button hold it down till you hear the beep punch in your code and it will flash green you should be good to go.

I have the “Speed” Series Top Load Vault pictured above. Item #83004. I’m confused with all the earlier reviews. Maybe this safe has been re-designed because there are NO cables…. anywhere. There are two wires that attach the battery holder (8ea AA Batteries) to the circuit board. The wires would not randomly break. They may get pinched by a heavy hand installation of the battery box. Just don’t understand the cable breaking issue.

Some of these reviews are from older safes. The vaults with cables are very old. The newer vaults did not come with them and worked much better.

Q: How do I reset the combination on the vault?
— Asked by Donald on December 26, 2017
A: To reset your vault you must open it manually with your key, remove the batteries and allow the safe to power down for 60 minutes. Re-install batteries. With the door open, you find a small (1/8”) hole to the immediate left of the right hand battery box. Insert the tip of an ink pen into this hole and you will hear a beep and a red light will appear next to the keypad. Immediately remove ink pen. Now, using the keypad, enter your personal five digit code. With the key safely outside of the safe, close the door and test your new combination code. If need be, repeat the above steps. Your safe is now programmed. IMPORTANT NOTE: If the batteries lose charge at any time or you change the batteries, the combination will revert to the factory preset of 1,2,3,4,1 and you will need to reprogram your personal code. Please let us know if you have further questions. Thanks - Briana

Q: What is the cable that they say keeps breaking.... the cable to plug it in?
— Asked by Megan on June 7, 2019
A: Megan, The cable that are talking about is connecting the lid to the safe. When the cable goes bad the lid will not pop open like it should. Thanks Lori
